nCube definition

The Land Utilisation Survey of Great Britain, based at the London School of Economics and led by Professor L. Dudley Stamp, organised schools throughout Britain in the 1930s to map land use in their local area, using standard categories defined by Stamp. These statistics dividing farmland into arable and permanent grassland form part of the county-level statistics published by Stamp in his book The Land of Britain: Its use and misuse (1948 and later editions).
