Notes

The early nineteenth century censuses all list a single Hundred, 'Beaminster and Redhone'. However, Youngs' listing of two separate Hundreds, 'Beaminster' and 'Beaminster Forum and Redhone', is supported by other earlier sources including the 14th century Poll Tax (see C. Fenwick, The Poll Taxes of 1377, 1379 and 1381, vol. 1 (OUP, 1998)). This unit is the nineteenth century Hundred, to which census data should be linked.
